Ibbo's Cake Quest Review

Professionals, elites, seniors, youths, club riders, amateurs and people who have barely ridden a bike before.... that was the variety of people who took part in todays cake quest!

It started off dark and dry but the drizzle soon arrived. The hardcore riders set off early around 8am and there was a steady flow of riders setting off over the next few hours. The fairycake ride was a huge success this year with 24 riders setting off with their guide, Jane, Ibbo's sister.

All the signs at the junctions were, thankfully, untouched last night and guided the way for everyone. I took part in the Jaffacakes, 60K ride for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it! But wow weren't those hills hard!

Alastair Carr one of our funded riders was our celebrity guest and not only did he take part in the Carrotcakes ride he helped out at HQ before and after his ride too. He was spotted washing and drying cups and saucers up at the end! Thanks Alastair!

The refreshments and warm hall were very welcoming to everyone who arrived back, so thank you to everyone working hard in the kitchen.

The last of the Fruitcake riders crawled in at about 5pm desperate for food and a hot drink and were given a well deserved medal. They even said see you again next year! They must be mad!

Well that's it for another year! We haven't got a total amount raised yet, but I will post it when we have finished counting! We have listened to your suggestions to make our ride bigger and better next year and we are working on; online entries, setting up pay pal and maps of the routes.

Thank you again to everyone who works so hard to make the Cake Quest possible.

If you have a little time and a lot of enthusiasm and would like to volunteer to help out next year please email us at johnibbotsonfund@hotmail.co.uk
